Bountiis WDS NWG/committee which was inaugurated on Friday 15th of September 2021 has representatives from across the country.
The charity organization in a statement disclosed that the inauguration of WDS NWG
committee a follow up activity to Bountiis WDS women forum held in Lagos on 27th June, 2021.
The event featured Muslim women from all works of life ranging from legal experts, medical consultants and others.
The WDS forum ended with a communiqué with implementation strategy to support WDS women in the society.
The statement reads: “Part of the resolutions from the forum was the need for a steering committee that would look into the development of a robust WDS Information and Support Network, WDS ISN.”
Bountiis has taken action by inaugurating the committee with responsibility of creating a strategic roadmap and action plan towards the implementation of WDS information resources and support network.
The charity organization noted that the committee is also tasked to initiate discussions around necessary engagements and requirements towards achieving the targeted goals.
The Bountiis Executive Director, Dr. Engr. Mrs. Falilat Olaitan Jimoh in her speech during the inauguration stated that WDS FORUM is one of the Bountiis series of Women in Trauma project to provide support for these categories of Muslim women in the society.
She said the forum is hope to echoed the cry of WDS on various issues affecting them which the society is silent about.
According to her, Bountiis in her continuous efforts at showing concerns to issues affecting Muslim women and taking actions at addressing them informed the decision to host the WDS forum and follow up with implementing the communiqué from the event.
She said the goal was to creating a platform for interaction between Muslim widows, divorcees and matured singles to share ideas and knowledge resources on common interests.
Dr. Jimoh also hinted that, Bountiis has also developed a dedicated online Forum for WDS discussions, Q&A and virtual interactions.
She explained that the online forum is one of the first ‘virtual or digital or social networking’(choose one) dedicated platform designed to be a knowledge repository for discussions on topics, issues and trends relating to Muslim women.
Dr. Jimoh listed Bountiis 17-women WDS NWG committee members to include: Hajia Idiat Anibilowo as the chairperson, Haija Kafayat Ibiyeye, Sister Adebayo Gafar Tawalkalt as the secretary, Sa’adah Oluwabukola Ogunbote, Secretary 2, Zulaykha Animashaun, PRO/Communication, Hussein kifayat Temilola, PRO/Communication 2, Saidat Adeola AbdulAzeez and Hassan Bilikis Funmilayo, welfare 1 and 2.
The Chairperson Hajia Anibilowo in her inaugural speech call-on all members of the committee to see the task as an history in making.
She said “this project will not only be of future benefit for Nigerians but to other WDS Muslimah in Diaspora.” Bountiis National Secretary, Hajia Hidayah Idrees Isaak while speaking at the inauguration, encourage all professionals and successful entrepreneurs to get-involved in the projects with their knowledge, experience and expertise to support WDS in our community.
